MSFS Marketplace: This dangerous new runway will destroy your landing gear!
The Microsoft Flight Simulator marketplace just loaded up a phenomenal collection of diverse destinations this week! Whether you want to land on a remote Mediterranean island volcanic rock, test your skills on a snowy Greenland runway, or take a scenic flight through a massive, completely free US city update, there is an adventure waiting for your virtual hangar.
In this comprehensive marketplace breakdown, we split today's major releases into three logical groups to see which environments genuinely deserve a spot on your virtual flight logs:
✈️ REMOTE & ISLAND EXTREMES: We kick things off with Voyageur Sim Project’s Alicudi Airfield (LIM8) in the Aeolian Islands—a gorgeous but highly dangerous sloping runway where you must disable aircraft stress damage to avoid instantly destroying your landing gear! From there, we journey to the breathtaking landscapes of southern Greenland to explore Qaqortoq Airport (BGOQ) by FSDG, surrounded by rocky mountains, deep fjords, and custom ground vehicles. We wrap up our isolated tours at Yellowknife Airport (CYZF) in Canada, checking out its realistic pavement wear, taxiway cracks, and custom hangar structures.
🌏 EAST ASIAN REGIONAL HUBS: Next, we head over to East Asia to look at two unique domestic fields by Chadstar Simulation. First is Zhalantun Chengjisihan Airport (ZBZL) in Inner Mongolia, evaluating its terminal interiors and apron textures. Then, we look at Jintang Huaizhou Airport (ZUHZ), a highly detailed regional package featuring prominent local landmarks like the Jintang power plant cooling tower, the KMA bridge, and heavily weathered hangar interiors.
🇺🇸 NORTH AMERICAN GATEWAYS & BUSH STRIPS: Finally, we unpack Microsoft's brand-new, completely free City Update 15: United States Midwest. This update adds stunning high-fidelity TIN photogrammetry across 15 key metropolitan regions in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin—including massive overhauls for Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Milwaukee. We also take a look at Flynn Drive 4D’s Landmark Hawaii Extension, Scenery Builders' Central Nebraska Regional (KGRI), and Emerald Scenery Design's Limber Loss Ranch (CA21)—a beautiful, highly challenging private hilltop grass strip with a steep one-way-in, one-way-out approach.
Which of these environments are you adding to your flight routes first? Are you brave enough to tackle the slopes of Alicudi, or are you downloading the free Chicago photogrammetry right away? Let me know in the comments below!
