Did MSFS 2024 Just Release World Update 22 Early? (US National Parks)
s this an accidental leak or an intentional surprise from Asobo? When firing up Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024 today, I was greeted by a sudden, unexpected popup: World Update 22 is available to download right now! Originally scheduled to launch on the 4th of July to celebrate America's 250th anniversary, this massive free update focuses entirely on the stunning landscapes of the U.S. National Parks.
In this video, we're taking a first look at what's inside the download, checking out the massive upgrades to over 30 National Parks and Monuments, and examining the technical changes under the hood. Asobo has partnered with Bing Places, Vexcel, and Gaia to deliver updated photogrammetry, thin Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) surface texturing, and brand-new Digital Elevation Modeling (DEM) data across 31 distinct Areas of Interest (AOIs).
While the data is installing, the big question remains: Is the streamed photogrammetry content fully ready on the servers yet? We’ll be testing that over the coming days!

We also catch glimpses of the highly anticipated Goodyear Blimp/Zeppelin in the menu screens, which is slated to arrive alongside these scenery updates.
