Privacy Policy
Introduction
High in the FlightSim Sky ("we", "our", or "us") operates the website. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.
This website uses YouTube API Services and embedded YouTube players to display channel videos, playlists, and related content.
YouTube API Services Disclosure
In addition to our own privacy procedures, we utilize YouTube API Services. Users can learn more about how Google manages data by visiting the Google Privacy Policy.
By using this website, you may interact with YouTube content and services that are governed by the YouTube Terms of Service.
Data Collection and Processing
Our website is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages. We do not collect personal information directly. However:
- YouTube content metadata: We use YouTube API Services to retrieve and display public channel information such as video titles, video IDs, descriptions, thumbnails, publication dates, view counts, playlists, and live-status information.
- How we use that data: We use this information only to build and display the public pages of this website, including video archives, playlists, embeds, search, and related content discovery.
- How we share that data: We do not sell or share YouTube API data with external parties for independent marketing or analytics purposes. The content is displayed on this public website, hosted on GitHub Pages, and embedded video playback is provided by YouTube.
- User data from YouTube interactions: We do not collect or store personal information from visitors through YouTube API Services. However, when you load pages containing embedded YouTube players or YouTube-linked content, Google or YouTube may receive technical data such as your IP address, browser information, and interaction data as part of normal service operation.
- GitHub Pages: Hosting is provided by GitHub. Review GitHub's privacy policy for hosting-related data practices.
- Third-party Analytics: If implemented, we use analytics services to understand usage patterns.
- Contact Form: If enabled, form submissions are processed by a third-party form provider. Data you submit (such as name, email, and message) is handled according to that provider's privacy policy.
Cookies and Local Storage
Our website does not set any cookies. We do not use tracking cookies. Embedded YouTube players and other external services may set their own cookies subject to their own policies.
We use your browser's built-in localStorage and sessionStorage to save preferences on your device only. This data is never transmitted to our servers. Specifically:
- Theme preference (
theme): Stores your light/dark mode choice so it persists across visits. - Favourite videos (
fav-videos) and favourite controller configs (fav-configs): Stores the IDs of items you have bookmarked on the Favourites page. This data stays on your device and is cleared if you clear your browser data or use the "Clear all favourites" button on that page. - Learning Track progress: Stores lesson completion state per track so your progress is remembered between visits.
- Live banner dismissal: Uses sessionStorage to remember that you have dismissed the live stream notification banner for the current browser session. This clears automatically when you close the tab.
External Links
Our website may contain links to external sites (YouTube, GitHub, etc.). This Privacy Policy does not apply to external websites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Security
We use HTTPS encryption to protect your connection to our site. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Modified" date.
